Jos Buttler bounces back from injury and set to lead England in the West Indies tour
England’s white-ball skipper, Jos Buttler, is all set to make his return as captain. The 34-year-old has been out of action due to a calf injury, missing important assignments like The Hundred and England’s series against Australia, and will now captain the side for the West Indies tour.
Notably absent from the lineup are red-ball captain Ben Stokes, who recently expressed interest in returning to white-ball cricket, and star batter Harry Brook, who led the team in ODIs against Australia during Buttler's absence.
The ECB has also announced that two additional players will be named following the selection for the third Test against Pakistan.
“An initial 14-player squad has been selected, which will be supplemented with two players from the Test squad in Pakistan. A decision on the two players to join the white-ball squad in the Caribbean is to be made after selection for the third Test in Rawalpindi, which begins on Thursday 24 October.” ECB said in a statement.
England squad for West Indies tour: Jos Buttler (c), Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Jafer Chohan, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, John Turner.
