The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled their playing XI for the upcoming third Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi. Key changes feature the inclusion of Gus Atkinson in the squad, alongside the recall of Rehan Ahmed, aimed at strengthening the spin attack for the Three Lions.

‌For their third and final Test match against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, England has opted for a spin-heavy lineup, including three spinners. Rehan Ahmed has been recalled to join Shoaib Bashir and Jack Leach in a formidable spin attack, while Gus Atkinson and captain Ben Stokes will lead the pace bowling responsibilities. Although Rehan has not played for England since February, following three Tests in India earlier this year, the team believes his presence as a third frontline spinner will be vital, especially as Pakistan takes measures to dry out the pitch in Rawalpindi.

Ahmed made his international debut in Pakistan two years ago, becoming the youngest player to represent England in Test cricket at just 18 years old. He made an impressive start, taking 5-48 in his third Test in Karachi, making him the third-youngest player to achieve a five-wicket haul on debut. Ahmed and Atkinson replace Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse from the squad in the second Test, highlighting England's strategic shift as they aim for victory in this crucial match in the WTC cycle.
