In a setback for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Sherfane Rutherford has withdrawn from the ongoing league due to personal reasons. This announcement was made after their final home game of the season against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, and a replacement for Rutherford is yet to be announced.

‌Rutherford was absent from the franchise's recent match against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, with the league disclosing that he has chosen to sit out the upcoming fixtures due to personal reasons. The 26-year-old has participated in only four games this season, accumulating 35 runs at an impressive strike rate of 194.44. His absence creates a notable void in the Patriot's lineup compelling them to position Dominic Drakes at the number 7 batting spot against the Falcons

The Guyanese was also part of the West Indies squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the home series against South Africa. In this edition of the Caribbean Premier League, he managed only 35 runs across four innings, including two ducks. Additionally, Rutherford represented the Montreal Tigers in the GT20 Canada, where his team reached the finals, but he only contributed 38 runs in six matches.

The St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots have yet to announce a replacement for Rutherford. Currently at the bottom of the points table with just one win from six matches, the  2021 CPL champions face an uphill battle to secure a playoff spot. They have four remaining games, with their next match against the St. Lucia Kings on September 12.
