Misfortune on the cricket field can be tough to bear, but few situations sting more than those caused by one's own actions. Such was the case on the final day of the Duleep Trophy match between India A and India D when Yash Dubey fell victim to an unfortunate runout at the non-striker's end.

‌India A held the advantage in the ongoing Duleep Trophy clash against India D, thanks to blistering centuries by Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma. Chasing a daunting target of 488 runs, India D's overnight batters Yash Dubey and Ricky Bhui, began their innings cautiously, mixing in singles and boundaries while rotating the strike. However, Dubey's time at the crease was abruptly cut short by an unfortunate run-out at the non-striker's end, as the ball deflected off his bat, allowing Shams Mulani to execute the dismissal.

On the final delivery of the 30th over, Mulani bowled a tossed-up delivery targeting the middle stump to Ricky Bhui. The Andhra batter read the length well and stepped down the pitch, attempting a drive towards mid-on. As the ball sped past, it struck Dubey’s bat as he tried to pull the willow away but to no avail. The deflection sent the ball back towards Mulani, and with Dubey having already left his crease in search of a single, Mulani quickly collected the ball in front of the stumps and whipped off the bails. Despite Dubey's desperate dive to regain his ground, the TV umpire confirmed the 'OUT' decision. The cricketing world on Twitter sympathized with Dubey after his unlucky dismissal.
