Heavy rain in Kanpur halted play for the second consecutive day in the ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh. While yesterday's match was abandoned during the third session, overnight rainfall rendered the field unplayable, prompting the match officials to call it a day officially.

‌Continuous overnight rain left the outfield soaked and covered in puddles. Although the sun occasionally peeked through in the morning, dark clouds quickly rolled in, resulting in heavy downpours. An early lunch was called, casting doubt on the possibility of resuming play. Ultimately, around 2:10 PM IST, the on-field umpires and match referee conducted a final inspection and decided to cancel the game for the day.

Bangladesh's opening duo Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam began the batting cautiously yesterday as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj effectively utilized the new ball. After eight overs and a score of 26 without loss, Rohit Sharma brought in Akash Deep, who quickly took Zakir's wicket on his first ball. The Bengal pacer struck again, removing Islam and giving India a crucial edge. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque then formed a brisk 45-run partnership, taking the score to 74/2 at lunch, despite a drizzle. Following the break, Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed the Bangladesh captain, but play was soon halted due to poor light as dark clouds rolled in.
