‌Decisions made in anger often lead to regret and unforeseen consequences. Indian captain Rohit Sharma is the latest one to fall prey to his frustration with Mehidy Hasan Miraz getting his number amidst India’s aggressive play in the second innings on the fourth day of the Kanpur Test.

With 233 runs to trail after the end of the first innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s early assault was complemented by captain Rohit Sharma as the pair piled up 29 runs in a couple of overs. Right after, a 22 runs over followed, bringing up the fifty runs stand in just three overs, also the fastest to fifty runs in Test cricket. With the right and left-handed pair looking robust with the bat, the ploy to bring in Mehidy Hasan Miraz worked well as he frustrated the Indian skipper before outwitting him in the fourth over.

With a couple of dots following the four off the first ball in the fourth over, Rohit rocked back to pull a length ball from the off-spinner. The ball turned in sharply and thudded the pad of the batter who referred upstairs for after being signaled out. With no bat involved and the ball making an impact outside the leg stump, the decision favoured the Mumbaikar. However, the Indian captain was seen anguish at the fact that he failed to connect a half-tracker and gushed his right hand with the air. The immediate next delivery saw his downfall with a length delivery skidding sharply into the right hander from outside the stumps and sneaking through the gates to knock the timber. Rohit was bamboozled by the sharp turn and was left off guard, leaving an example of how frustrated mind could lead to one’s downfall, sparking the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
