PBKS vs CSK | Twitter reacts as Mukesh Chaudhary pulls a Boult 2019 and upgrades a catch to six

Being sharp and alert is vital in a high-stakes contest, especially when an in-form batter needs to be dismissed. Mukesh Chaudhary had a moment to forget as he emulated Trent Boult’s infamous missed catch from the 2019 World Cup and allowed a crucial chance to scalp Priyansh Arya.

‌The newly built stadium at Mullanpur witnessed a rollercoaster of emotions with the bat from the home side. On one hand, Punjab were reduced to 83/5 in just eight overs. But stealing the spotlight was opener Priyansh Arya, who raced to a blistering 19-ball half-century. The visitors’ misery deepened when a simple chance to dismiss him turned into a six, all due to a costly lapse by Mukesh Chaudhary.

On the second ball of the 12th over, Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a full delivery outside off. Priyansh stepped forward and launched a big slog down the ground. The ball soared high toward long-off, where Mukesh Chaudhary was stationed. He judged the trajectory well and took the catch comfortably, but failed to realise his foot was touching the boundary rope. What should’ve been a crucial breakthrough turned into six runs. A frustrated Ashwin could only watch as his effort was undone, while Priyansh, having been gifted a lifeline, capitalised to reach a 39-ball half-century. The moment didn’t go unnoticed online either, as the Twitterverse lit up and pointed out Mukesh’s costly blunder.
