David Warner, who has earned a legion of fans with his unbelievable stroke-making during his heyday, rolled back the years in the BBL match against Perth Scorchers. The Sydney Thunder skipper got his side’s chase underway stylishly with a stunning six off Mahli Beardman’s first ball.

‌After a horrific start, Perth Scorchers recovered well to post a formidable 202/8 against Sydney Thunder in their Big Bash League 2025-26 game at the Sydney Showground Stadium. Captain Ashton Turner, who walked to the middle in the sixth over with the score reading 34/3, hit eight fours and eight sixes to remain unbeaten at 99 off just 41 balls to take his side to a position of strength at the halfway stage.

With a huge target to get, David Warner got the home side to a dream start with a six off Mahli Beardman’s first legal delivery after the restart. The young pacer who bowled a short and wide delivery down the leg side tried to compensate by bowling full and straight to the Thunder skipper.

Warner accepted the gift with both hands as he put his wrist to immediate use to pull off an unbelievable slog-flick over the square leg fence. The veteran batter picked the line quickly and used the pace of the inswinging delivery to good use to shock the 20-year-old Beardman.

Warner rolled back the years with his signature shot on the onside as the home side showed positive intent in response to a tall total put on the board by the Scorchers. Twitter was in awe as Warner showed he has still got that in him with an eye-catching maximum.
