UPW vs MI | Twitter reacts as Kamalini's lack of effort to save boundary incenses Harman-led MI core

Harmanpreet Kaur cut a frustrated figure after G Kamalini let a boundary slip easily in the WPL game between Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz in Lucknow

Fielding is often a major differentiator in women's cricket given the still developing standards in the game, a factor Australia have used to dominate for decades now. No wonder then that the entire Mumbai Indians star cast was left disappointed in Lucknow on Thursday after a G Kamalini misfield.

UP Warriorz enjoyd their most fruitful opening stand of the season so far in the Women's Premier League as Australians Georgia Voll and Grace Harris combined for 74 runs in just eight overs at the top of the order, the former eventually motoring on to register a 29-ball half-century. However, Mumbai Indians were able to strike back in the middle overs with a slew of wickets to contain the onslaught by the hosts but the visitors kept making small mistakes in the field, with one in particular bringing Harmanpreet Kaur to a boil.

Vrinda Dinesh, facing the first ball of her innings, glanced Natalie Sciver-Brunt off her pads in the 11th over and the Kookaburra sped towards the boundary. G Kamailini came running in from deep fine leg but instead of puting in a sparing dive to keep the white rock from hitting the fence, the 16-year-old simply made a ceremonial show of bending down as she watched the ball go past her. All skipper Harmanpreet could was extend her arms in question while her scrunched face sufficiently expressed her annoyance, at the same time as Natalie hung her head in disappointment and Amelie Kerr facepalmed in disbelief.

Kamalini, who ended the recent U-19 T20 World Cup as the third highest run getter including scoring a match-winning fifty in the semi-final, was herself frustrated at her poor display in the field but sympathy was in short supply on Twitter.
