NZ W vs BAN W | Twitter in awe as Rosemary Mair bests Marufa Akter to give Bangladesh taste of own medicine
Fast bowlers going through batters’ defence is a beautiful thing to witness, and Rosemary Mair showed exactly why during the ODI World Cup match against Bangladesh in Guwahati. The New Zealand pacer came up with a peach of a delivery, which seamed in a mile to disturb Sharmin Akhter’s timber.

With the return of Rosemary Mair from injury, the White Ferns boasted one of the best new-ball attacks in the tournament. She joined Jess Kerr to tighten the grip on the Bangladesh openers as runs came at a premium.
Mair conceded just six runs in her first two overs, while Kerr was impressive as she gave away a solitary run, including a maiden off her second. Both Sharmin Akhter and Rubya Haider felt the pressure as the scoreboard moved nowhere, and the bowlers were coming at them with inch-perfect consistency.
Mair started her third over with a jaffa that took Akhter by surprise and beat her all ends up. She pitched the ball on the seam at a good length outside off stump as the Kookaburra darted in viciously, going through the batter’s bat and pads, and crashed into the leg stump.
Mair was visibly chuffed with the dream delivery as the teammates came running to acknowledge her. However, Akhter was still standing in the middle, shell-shocked, as she tried to gauge the trajectory of the ball.
Twitter was in awe as Mair went one better than the Tigresses’ pacer Marufa Akter and gave them the taste of their own medicine.

Movement
Rosemary Mair gets some movement. We saw that in last year's T20 WC too.

In this WC, NZ haven't been able to generate much swing. In women's cricket, new-ball movement still plays a key role.#wwc2025
