But the third ball of the third over, bowled by Romario Shepherd, came up as something Pooran didn’t expect. It was a short-pitched ball from around the wickets. Pooran bent down and tried to get away from the delivery, but it went on to hit his helmet grill as he was cramped for space. Following this shocking moment, the Knight Riders' physio immediately rushed to the ground for Pooran’s concussion check. Fortunately, there was no serious damage, and Pooran continued to hit three boundaries before getting dismissed in on the second ball of the sixth over off Moeen Ali’s delivery.

Following Pooran’s dismissal, Darren Bravo and the veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard added much-needed 66 runs for the fifth wicket. This partnership included Bravo’s steady approach, alongside Pollard’s fiery shots to punish the Warriors’ bowling attack. Bravo scored 33 runs off 35 balls, with two fours and a six, followed by Pollard’s swashbuckling 54 runs off just 18 balls, with five sixes and fours. While chasing the target, the Warriors lost their openers at the score of just 14 runs in 2.2 overs. But it was the 83-run partnership for the third wicket between Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer that changed the game in GAW’s favour. Hetmyer scored 49 runs off 30 balls, with two fours and four sixes, followed by Hope’s steady half-century, scoring 53 runs off 46 balls, with three fours and three sixes. Later, Dwaine Pretorius’ unbeaten 26 runs off just 14 balls also played a crucial role in helping the Warriors cross the line in 19.5 overs, scoring 168/7.
