Watch an Emotional Reunion as Tripathi Meets Dhoni on Opposite Sides
Rahul Tripathi reunited with his favourite IPL player, MS Dhoni. He was Dhoni's former teammate as they used to play together for Chennai Super Kings. But now in IPL 2026, Dhoni and Tripathi will meet each other as rivals, since Rahul Tripathi was bought by KKR in the auction.
We are just a few hours away from the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. And right before the game, fans got to witness a reunion which surely wasn't on their bingo cards. Rahul Tripathi reunited with his former IPL captain, MS Dhoni right before the big game.

The video of their meet went viral on social media, as it was posted on the official social media handles of Chennai Super Kings. It even had the caption, “Rahul Bhai, who got you smiling like that?” Rahul Tripathi was very happy when he saw MS Dhoni on the field and he could not stop himself from meeting him.
He ran towards Dhoni like a child and had a talk with the veteran IPL star. It was a reunion which the CSK fans also needed, as Rahul Tripathi was a part of the team in the last season. And he will also be feeling as if he is playing at home, since Chepauk was his home in the last season.

Rahul Tripathi meeting MS Dhoni reminds us that no matter how many players have been a part of the CSK team, their respect for Captain Cool has been consistent. Even though Tripathi was released by the team after the IPL 2025 season, he waited for a long time to reunite with Dhoni. It remains to be seen whether he is given an opportunity by KKR to play for them in the upcoming match against his former team or not.
