Delhi Capitals beat Gujarat Giants by seven wickets in the WPL 2026 Eliminator contest in Vadodara. Lizelle Lee and Jemimah Rodrigues aggressive displays with the bat meant the Capitals closed off the game in 15.4 overs after Chinelle Henry’s three-wicket haul restricted the Giants to 168/7.

‌Delhi Capitals set a final date with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, making it to their fourth consecutive summit clash of the Women’s Premier League with a clinical seven-wicket win over Gujarat Giants in Vadodara on Tuesday. Chinelle Henry shone with the ball with a three-wicket haul as the Giants set a target of 169, which the Capitals made light work of, courtesy of Lizelle Lee and Jemimah Rodrigues’ impressive knocks.

After being put in at the Kotambi Stadium, Gujarat Giants opener Sophie Devine looked shaky, getting a streaky boundary while trying to whack Marizanne Kapp. However, the veteran batter did not last long, getting out off a thick edge, trying an encore in the next over from Chinelle Henry. But after a quiet start, the Giants came back nicely with 27 runs in the next two overs, with Anushka Sharma looking promising during her brief stay. But, Capitals’ skipper Jemimah was instantly rewarded as she brought on Nandani Sharma, with the rookie pacer picking two wickets in her first two balls, including the prized scalp of captain Ashleigh Gardner. Though the home side lost three wickets, they ended the six-over powerplay at a decent-looking 48 with opener Beth Mooney still at the crease. Soon, the side lost their fourth in Kanika Ahuja, as Georgia Wareham walked in to join her senior countrymate. The duo calmed the Giants’ nerves with a 61-run stand, with Wareham being the aggressor early on. The Aussie all-rounder hit three fours and a six during her 25-ball 35 before being dismissed by Henry, with the Windies all-rounder also accounting for Bharti Fulmali in the same over. However, Mooney hit three boundaries off Henry’s final over that cost 16, first to complete her half-century and then to guide the Giants to a competitive total of 168/7. The Australian wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 62 off 51 balls with six boundaries to her name, while Kashvee Gautam (18) also chipped in with a useful cameo. The Capitals were guilty of giving away 19 extra runs in the form of wides, with Henry being the pick among the bowlers with a spell of 3/35 in her four overs, even as Nandani was expensive for her two-wicket haul.

In response, both Capitals’ openers Lizelle and Shafali Verma were watchful for a couple of overs before throwing caution to the wind. The Indian opener welcomed Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Sophie Devine into the attack with two boundaries each, while her partner also joined the party with three boundaries in Renuka’s marathon 21-run over. With the wicketkeeper-batter smashing the first six of the innings in the next over from Rajeshwari, the Capitals stormed to an imposing 75/0 at the end of the six-over mark. Even after the field spread out, the pair showed no signs of slowing down, with Devine bearing the brunt with three more boundaries. However, the introduction of Wareham into the mix gave the Giants some respite with the leg-spinner sending back both big-hitting openers in the same over. While Lizelle had eight hits to the fence and one over it in her 24-ball 43, Shafali (31) was not to be left behind with seven fours. But any flames of a comeback were quickly doused by Jemimah and Laura Wolvaardt with their counter-attacking stand of 68 runs for the third wicket. The Capitals skipper’s exquisite strokeplay, which included four fours and a maximum, fetched her 41 off just 23 balls, while the Proteas skipper remained unbeaten and watched Kapp close off the game in style with a boundary, as the side reached 169/3 with 26 balls to spare. Meanwhile, Wareham was the sole bright spot for the Giants with the ball, picking up 2/28 in 3.4 overs.
