India has been dominating the T20 World Cup, continuing its win streak from 2024. The team went against Pakistan in Colombo, even after the latter had done talks to boycott the game. But eventually the match happened and the result came out to be what everyone had expected.

The Indian team has now defeated Pakistan once again in the T20 World Cup, and with this win, they also advance to the Super Eight stages of the tournament. Ishan Kishan was the star for the team, as he went on to score 77 runs in this game. Winning the POTM award, he has now become the 4th Indian wicket-keeper in the history to win an ICC POTM award.

Here are the other players who have won the POTM in the ICC events as an Indian wicket-keeper.

Farokh Engineer: 1975 World Cup

This record was first achieved by Farokh Engineer back in the 1975 World Cup. He achieved this record against a team, whose name many fans may not have even heard. It was the clash between India and East Africa in the early stages of the tournament. With East Africa batting first, the Indian bowlers were able to take the upper hand.

Madan Lal was able to take 3 wickets, while Syed Abid Ali and Mohinder Amarnath took 2 wickets each. East Africa ended up being all out at the score of 120 in 55.3 overs. Farokh Engineer, the wicket-keeper of the team, was able to take a catch in the first innings of the game. He helped India to dismiss the East African skipper, Harilal Shah.

Later with the bat, Engineer played a crucial role. He went on to score 54 runs off 93 balls, which helped India to win the game with 10 wickets remaining. Engineer also scored 7 fours in his knock, powering India to the win, which also helped him to take the POTM award.

MS Dhoni: 2011 World Cup

After Farokh Engineer, it took decades for someone else to join this list. And it was none other than India's greatest white ball captain, MS Dhoni. In the 2011 World Cup, Dhoni achieved this in the final clash against Sri Lanka. India was bowling first in this game and they had the upper hand against Sri Lanka in the initial phases.

But Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene went off to have a beautiful stand which took Sri Lanka to a commanding position. The team scored 274 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, and these wickets included a catch and a run out done by Dhoni. When India came to bat, the openers didn't do well.

But Kohli and Gambhir had a great stand which put India at the score of 114/3 in 21.4 overs when Dhoni stepped in. He went on to score 91 runs off 79 balls in this chase, and even finished the game with a six. This match winning shot and an impressive knock helped him to be the POTM in this game.

KL Rahul: 2023 World Cup

KL Rahul was the next player to join this list after MS Dhoni. He did this in India's first clash of the 2023 edition against Australia. Australia was batting first in this game and they managed to score just 199 runs. Since the target was short, fans thought it would be easy to achieve for the Indian team.

But India had a troubling start, as they were put at the score of 2/3. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli had an impressive stand which took India close to the win. Rahul went on to score 97 runs in this game and even finished it with a six. India won the game by 6 wickets and KL Rahul was able to start off the campaign with a POTM award.

Ishan Kishan: 2026 T20 World Cup

And now in the T20 World Cup, another player has been added to this list. It is Ishan Kishan, who unleashed his Pocket Dynamo in the clash against Pakistan. India was batting first in this game and he went on to score 77 runs off 40 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. This helped India to reach the total of 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

The target seemed impossible for Pakistan to chase, as they were quickly losing wickets. Usman Khan came out as a set batsman, but he was stumped out by Axar Patel, with Ishan Kishan handling the stumps from behind. Ultimately, India was able to win this game by 61 runs and Ishan Kishan received his POTM award.
