Watch, BBL | Frustrated Overton puts lensman in spot after dismissal at Adelaide Oval

Cricketers often make cheeky gestures when the spotlight is on them, and Jamie Overton came up with a creative one to show his frustration in the BBL. The Adelaide Strikers all-rounder asked the lensman to leave before him, at the boundary, after his dismissal against Sydney Thunder in Adelaide.

‌After being put in to bat by Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Oval looked in a spot of bother in their Big Bash League 2025-26 match, after both openers departed inside two overs with the score reading just 19. However, Mackenzie Harvey and Jason Sangha repaired the home side’s innings at the Adelaide Oval with a 68-run stand for the third wicket.

Just when the strikers were nurturing hopes of a 200-plus total, both set batters departed in the space of 10 deliveries to put them on the back foot again. But Liam Scott and Jamie Overton once again consolidated the innings with a crucial partnership. However, Overton struggled to set the pace during his innings before finally departing for an 11-ball 13 in the 17th over.

But the England all-rounder stopped just before crossing the boundary line, with the viewers initially thinking that the umpire had asked him to wait to check the no-ball. But in fact, a frustrated Overton was asking the cameraman to go in first before walking off.

He was, presumably, not impressed with the cameras panning over him in close-up after getting hit awkwardly on the box during his stay in the middle. Just as he uttered a few words and asked the lensman to leave, the commentators, on a lighter vein, mentioned that Overton was trying to escort the cameraman off the field.

Overton was not impressed!
