Tilak Varma Breaks Silence on His New Leadership Role in Team India
India A will be going against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in a few days. In the tri-series, Tilak Varma, the skipper, has talked about his new role in the Indian team. A few days back, he was named as the vice captain of the Indian team in the T20I format.

Tilak Varma is having a tight schedule in the shortest format of the game. After spending his time well in the Indian Premier League, he was named in the India A squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. He will be leading the India A team in the tri-series against Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A, which starts from 9 June.
Along with that, he has also been named as the vice-captain of the Indian team in the T20I format. Varma has displayed some of the finest performances while batting at number three, ever since Virat Kohli retired from the game. And now with him being the vice captain, he will be a part of the team in the series against England, Ireland, and the Asian Games.
Right before the tri-series, Tilak Varma was asked about his new role in the Indian team. He responded to the same by saying, ‘Gautam sir always told me 'Whenever you lead India A, keep this in mind that you have to do that for India also' so, I observe a lot & learn a lot on the ground. I was prepared & got the opportunity at the right time.”
Our Take
Tilak Varma being named as the vice captain of the team shows that the Indian team is giving its best for the present while also securing their future. With Shreyas Iyer as a captain and Tilak Varma as the vice captain, the Indian team will be eager to continue its dominance in the shortest format of the game. Till then, Tilak Varma will aim to find his rhythm back in the game, with the help of this tri-series against Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A.
