West Indies cricket team has now reached back to their nation after the T20 World Cup. Being stuck in India for a long time even after being knocked out of the tournament came as a matter of concern for the team. But the Caribbean’s have now returned, and it was also confirmed by the West Indies Cricket Board.
After the T20 World Cup came to an end, it was a challenging time for the West Indies. And it is not the challenges they faced on the cricket field, it is about the challenges they faced while reaching back to their country. Due to the war situation in the Middle East, they were left stranded in India as the airspace was closed.
The West Indies were knocked out of the T20 World Cup on 1 March after playing their match against India. And since then, the team waited for more than a week to arrive back to their nation. Even their Head Coach, Darren Sammy, was actively posting on Twitter, asking for updates of his team's departure from India.
Now, it has been confirmed that the West Indies Cricket Team has successfully reached their nation. The Cricket West Indies posted an announcement on their official handles, informing the fans about the same. Reportedly, a chartered flight was arranged by the CWI to ensure safe arrival of their players.
Our Take
West Indies had shown tremendous performances in the T20 World Cup 2026. It almost looked like the team was back in its 2016 form, when they last won the T20 World Cup which was also hosted in India. They went undefeated in the group stages and even advanced to the Super Eight. Winning over Zimbabwe by a huge margin, their hopes of reaching the semi-final increased.
But the team suffered a loss against South Africa, making the match against India a do-or-die. The stakes of this virtual knockout were high, and the West Indies were not able to cope with the same. Eventually, they lost to India in the last Super Eight game to end their campaign.
