How SRH Can Finish in Top Two After RCB Clash?

Anupam Pandey

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be going against each other today. This clash will determine who faces GT in Qualifier 1. With RCB having a better NRR, how can SRH manage to reach the top two?

The Indian Premier League gets more exciting, as Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hosting Royal Challengers Bengaluru today. This will be the last league game for both teams, and it will also determine which one of these two teams will be facing Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1. RCB is already having an edge, as the team has the highest NRR in this tournament.

But Sunrisers Hyderabad will also be keen to ensure that they don't go to the Eliminator game. There are two scenarios which will help Sunrisers Hyderabad to finish in the Top Two and face GT in Qualifier 1. The first case is when RCB decides to bat first, and the team goes on to score 150 runs only. In this case, Hyderabad will have to chase down the target in just 11.2 overs.

The second case is when Sunrisers Hyderabad step down to bat first and they go on to score 200 runs. In this case, Hyderabad will have to win the game against the defending champions by a margin of 87 runs. If any of these two cases happens, SRH will be able to make it to the Qualifier 1 against GT.

Our Take

While the mathematical equation for the game is clear, it is a lot challenging for Sunrisers Hyderabad to do the same. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have established their dominance in this tournament, and they have a chance to top the table with 20 points. Moreover, with the depth in its batting and bowling line-up, it will be challenging for SRH to defeat RCB with a good margin.
