Vaibhav Sooryavanshi went on to break records in IPL 2026. In the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, he was able to break the record of Andre Russell and Chris Gayle. Both players appreciated him through Instagram stories.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been a young sensation in the IPL 2026 edition. He played his first ever match in the IPL playoffs last night, and it was expected to be a nervous situation. But he went on to score a massive total of 97 runs off just 23 balls, giving Rajasthan Royals an upper hand in the game.
He was also able to break some records which were being held by the IPL legends for a long time. Chris Gayle created the record of most sixes in a single IPL season, as he went on to smash 59 sixes in 2012. Later, Andre Russell was able to come close to this record with 52 sixes. But after 14 seasons, this record has finally been broken by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
With the young sensation breaking their records, both Chris Gayle and Andre Russell appreciated him for the same. Chris Gayle was really impressed with the fans calling him the Universe Baby Boss, as the Universe Boss name was given to Gayle himself. He even said that the IPL is now having its own six machine.

Even though Chris Gayle and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have never met each other on the field, it seems that the legacy of Chris Gayle has passed on. Sooryavanshi was able to break the record made by Chris Gayle at the time when he was just a year old. And the same even goes for Andre Russell. Even though he has retired from the IPL, the tournament will forever remain a part of his impressive journey, as he hails the future talent.
