Sachin Tendulkar Explains How IPL Can Become More Competitive for Bowlers

Sachin Tendulkar, the Master Blaster, talked about how the IPL has been all about batsmen these days. Even the premium fast bowlers end up being run machines in modern day IPL and T20 games. He came up with a few changes, which could bring the bowlers back in the game.

‌Sachin Tendulkar was present in an event yesterday, where he was given the award of the best batter in the 21st Century. In that event, the Master Blaster talked about a number of things which have changed in the game. While Tests and ODIs remained the same, changes were mainly noticed in the shortest format.
IPL and T20 games were earlier known for a balanced contest with bat and ball. But these days, they have been more dominated by the batters, with 200+ scores looking more common. Sachin Tendulkar came up with a list of changes which could bring the bowlers back in the game. He started off by saying that the Impact Player rule needs to go from the IPL.
He also recommended that one bowler should be allowed to bowl five overs. Along with that, Tendulkar talked about a change in the powerplay, to make it two powerplays. One will be of four overs for the batting team, and in the remaining two overs, the bowling team will be able to put one extra fielder beyond the 30 yard circle.

Our Take

The changes suggested by Sachin Tendulkar are being warmly welcomed by the other cricket greats. The IPL has been more about the batters displaying their dominance. There was a time when watching 200+ scores was a rare things, and now it seems that if a team has not scored 200, they might not be able to win the game.
