Arsenal got the better of Premier League champions Chelsea 2-1 in a thrilling FA Cup final to deny the Blues their second title of the season yesterday. Aaron Ramsey headed home in the 79th-minute to seize the Cup for the team who were battling a 10-men Chelsea towards the end of the game.

Arsenal managed to finish their season on a high by winning a record 13th FA Cup title which also made Arsene Wenger the most successful manager in the competition with his seventh title.

The match began with both the teams attacking each other's goal until Arsenal took the lead in a controversial fashion through Alexis Sanchez in the fourth minute of the game. Sanchez tapped the ball in the bottom right corner past Thibaut Courtois which was first disallowed by the linesman but later the decision was overturned by referee Anthony Taylor which resulted in Arsenal taking the lead over Chelsea.

The Gunners kept pressurising the Chelsea goal but failed to get past the Blues defence and ended the half with a one-goal lead.

Chelsea ended up in a spot of bother after Victor Moses was sent off in the 68th minute as he received his second yellow card of the match for a theatrical dive in the penalty area. However, Chelsea equalised against the run of play through Deigo Costa in the 76th minute when Arsenal keeper David Ospnia failed to keep out an easy shot.

Arsenal refused to surrender and once again took the lead three minutes after Chelsea's goal when Aaron Ramsey recreated his 2014 FA Cup final performance against Hull City and scored the winner for the Gunners.

The record seventh win for Arsene Wenger might result in the extension of the 67-year-old's contract which was in jeopardy after Arsenal finished fifth in the League and crashed out of the Champions League round of 16 for the seventh consecutive time.
