India to bid for FIFA Club World Cup after confirming U-20 World Cup bid

AIFF president Praful Patel has confirmed that India will bid for hosting authorities of the FIFA Club World Cup for 2020 and 2021 after U-17 World Cup became a huge success. He has also confirmed that India has officially submitted its bid to host the Under-20 football World Cup scheduled in 2019.

India got a brilliant experience by hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup. This is the first time when India has hosted a football event of such level. The Under-17 Indian football team became the first Indian team to participate in a FIFA event.The success of the tournament has inspired AIFF to bid for hosting rights for the 2020 and 2021 FIFA Club World Cup.

Patel, who has been heading AIFF since 2012, has also confirmed that India has already submitted its bid for hosting the FIFA U20 World Cup which will be held in 2019. The federation is trying to take effective steps which can help in the development of the sport in the country. These tournaments will not only give an exposure to India but also give the opportunity to young players.
