Kelechi Iheanacho’s brace was enough to secure a 2-0 victory over Fleetwood Town in the third round replays of the FA Cup. In another encounter, Reece Burke became a hero for his side as he scored the only goal in extra time to book West Ham's place in the next round of the Cup.

Leicester City 2 - 0 Fleetwood Town

It was an easy clash for Leicester City thanks to Iheanacho’s performance and he also became the first player to score a goal which is awarded by a video assistant referee (VAR) in English football. Overall, this was the third time in English football when the VAR has been used as a trial. Earlier, it was seen in the Brighton and Crystal Palace encounter in the FA Cup and Chelsea against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

In the major part of the first half both the teams failed to open their tally but just before the break, Iheanacho scored the first goal of the game from Islam Slimani's pass. The second goal of the game was again scored by the 21-year-old in the 77 minutes which was awarded by VAR after Riyad Mahrez’s pass to the former Manchester City striker.

Leicester City who had the 72% possession of the game will play their next game against Peterborough United on January 27.

West Ham United 1 - 0 Shrewsbury Town

Both teams failed to break the deadlock as the first half of the game remained goalless which was repeated in the second half. West Ham had 65% of possession in the game and four attempts on target but they seemed to be unable to open the tally in the regulation 90 minutes.

It was 21-year-old Burke who became the only scorer of the evening as in the 112th minute of the game he produced a goal with a superb half-volley which went inside after hitting the underside of the crossbar.

It was Burke’s first professional goal which took the Hammers into round four where they will face AFC Bournemouth or Wigan Athletic on January 27.

Mansfield Town 1 - 4 Cardiff City

On January 6, Cardiff City faced Mansfield Town in the third round of FA Cup where both teams returned goalless but after winning a clash against Sunderland by 4-0, Cardiff City ensured that the result wouldn’t repeat when they again face the Mansfield on Tuesday night.

Ecuele Manga scored the first in the 34th minutes and soon both side entered into the break with a 1-1 score after Danny Rose produced the equalizer.

Junior Hoilett was not in a mood to give the game easily to the Town as he scored a brace and Anthony Pilkington also joined the list to increase the winning margin as he scored in the 71st minute of the game. The win meant Cardiff City will face Manchester City on January 28.
