ISL 2018 | We are confident because we are at the top, believes Goa’s Manvir Singh

Goa striker Manvir Singh is of the opinion that the side looks confident during the games because they are leading the points table at the moment in ISL 2018. The youngster also mentioned that every Indian wants to play under Goa coach Sergio Lobera because of his attacking style of football.

FC Goa has now extended their lead at the top of the points table in the ongoing season of the Indian Super League after a convincing 3-1 win against Kerala Blasters in Kochi. Goa now has 16 points from seven games and has only one draw and one defeat in the season so far. Team’s striker Manvir looked very confident during an interview and spoke about the team’s performance so far in this edition of the league and the role of coach Lobera.

“We are very confident because we’re at the top of the table. We are very happy. We will work hard to stay at the top of the table,” Manvir told indiansuperleague.com. 

“Sergio Lobera is a very good coach and he wants us to play attacking football and I like it. I'm very happy with this coach. Every Indian player wants to play under Sergio Lobera because his thinking is attacking football, and I like it.”

Manvir came in as a substitute and converted on a corner in the second half after senior teammate Coro had already scored a brace for the Gaurs in the first half. The Goa keeper Mohammad Nawaz couldn’t keep a clean sheet in the game as Nikola Krcmarevic found the back of the net to score a consolation goal for the home team in injury time. 

Speaking about the Kerala Blasters, the striker said, “They have a very good side. The Indian players and foreign players are very good. It’s a good side.”

Manvir Singh has been selected along with other youngsters Sumeet Passi and Farukh Choudhary in the 30-men probable Indian team for the international friendly against Jordan to be played on November 17 and might also get a chance to play as skipper Sunil Chhetri has been ruled out due to an ankle injury.
