New deals for Lacazette and Aubameyang are in progress, reports Unai Emery
Arsenal are working on new deals for both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang according to Gunners boss Unai Emery. Both the strikers finished last season as Arsenal’s best players and that has seen the club become very keen on tying them down with new and lucrative deals.
Arsenal finished last season in fifth place, but things could have been much worse if it wasn’t for their pair of superstar strikers in Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. That has seen the club become even more interested in signing them to new deals.
However, reports had emerged that both strikers have agreed to new deals, but that has now been denied by Unai Emery. While Lacazette's current deal expires in 2022, Aubameyang's deal is only till 2021, which has caused a few problems for the North London side. It has also seen interest from Manchester United and even Barcelona emerged, which has further caused issues for Arsenal.
“They are very important players and their contracts need to be in the same balance. It’s one circumstance, one issue now, that the club is working on. Edu is here for that reason. There's also Raul and Huss , working with the players for that,” said Arsenal’s head coach to Goal.com.
“It’s important for them, but my focus is on preparing the matches, each training session and making sure the players are focused and concentrated for us and on the work. I want the best for the club. And I want the best for the players. I think if the club and they are speaking about that, it's perfect.”
