Reports | Victor Wanyama all set to join Club Brugge
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to a deal to sell their Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama to Belgian side Club Brugge. The 28-year-old, joined Spurs from Southampton in 2016, but is set to leave the club as he sees his first-team chances diminish with the club signing two new midfielders this summer.
Victor Wanyama is all set to move to the Jupiler Pro League leaders, Club Brugge, for £15m, reports the BBC. The defensive midfielder is also facing extra competition in midfield since Spurs signed Tanguy Ndombele for a club-record £53.8m from Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon this season.
The Kenyan international is yet to feature in a game for Tottenham this campaign and featured in only 13 games last season. Wanyama played in both of Tottenham’s semi-final fixtures against Ajax in the Champions League last season, which is where the North London side made a miraculous comeback and progressed to play the finals against five-time champions Liverpool.
Tottenham went on to lose the final 2-0, and Wanyama did not get the opportunity to feature in the game. The 28-year-old will travel to Brugge on Friday to finalize details of the move, which will include a medical and the signing of the new contract. The captain of the Kenyan national team had received several offers including potential moves to France, Turkey and Italy but is said to have been lured to Brugge because of the club’s ambition to do well in the Champions League.
