Report | Richarlison to pen new Everton deal amid Manchester United interest
Everton forward Richarlison is extremely close to committing new contract at Goodison Park that will keep the Brazilan at the club for the next 5 years. A number of big clubs have been attracted to Richarlison’s talent in recent times with clubs like Manchester United and PSG leading the list.
Richarlison will sign a contract extension in the upcoming days which will make him commit his future for 5 more years at Goodison Park, as reported by the Guardian. The Brazil player has been exceptional for the Toffees and is soon to be rewarded with an improved contract. Marcel Brands, Everton’s director of football, announced last week that a contract extension had been agreed in principle with the Brazil international and his representatives.
The 22-year-old still has three and a half years left on his current contract, but Everton want to take no chance as a number of high-end clubs remain interested in signing Richarlison. The Brazil international signed for the Toffees in 2018 from Watford for £40 million and has gone onto score 20 times in 55 games for the club. Manchester United have made their interest known in the Selacao star and are aiming to test Everton’s resolve in the upcoming transfer window. The Red Devils are desperate to sign a forward after Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez left the club for Inter Milan.
The agreement will come as a welcome sigh of relief for Everton, who have struggled under Marco Silva this term. Silva has been on the verge of getting sacked and the upcoming Merseyside Derby will be instrumental in determining the Spaniard’s fate. Silva was instrumental in bringing Richarlison from Vicarage Road and remains close to the player. He believes a new deal for the 22-year-old striker offers the stability that Everton have lacked in recent years.
