Chelsea youngster Fikayo Tomori has signed a new five and a half year contract with the Blues after an impressive start under Frank Lampard. The Canadian born star has been extremely happy with the club and has claimed that the Blues have helped him develop into the player that he is today.

Chelsea centre back Fikayo Tomori signed a new and improved deal with the club that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2025. Frank Lampard has given the 21-year-old his chance this season and the defender has vindicated that faith with a series of confident displays at the back, helping the club challenge for a top four spot. Tomori has featured 17 times this season for the Blues and has built a strong and fierce relationship with Kurt Zouma. The former Derby loanee went on to admit that he was grateful to Chelsea for supporting him over the years and that he was excited to see what the future held for him at the club.

“It's obviously a very proud moment for myself and my family. I've been at the club since I was seven years old so I don't really know much else other than Chelsea. The club has been so good to me, looking after and developing me during that time into the player and the person I am today. It's a dream come true to sign a new five-year contract. I'm really happy the club have shown this faith in me and I'm just excited to carry on,” Tomori told the club website.

Under Lampard, the youngsters have reached new levels of productivity with Tammy Abraham in outstanding goalscoring form. Mason Mount, Reece James, Fikayo Tomori have impressed under the Englishman and that has seen the club win a lot of plaudits. It also saw Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia admit that the club was pleased with Tomori’s progress and heaped praise on his strong start to the Premier League season.

“We are very happy to see another fantastic young player come through from our Academy into the senior team. Fikayo has been with us since he was seven years old and has contributed to many Chelsea successes at youth level. Having enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Derby last season, Fikayo had a strong start to this campaign and we are enjoying seeing him grow into a key player for us. We are delighted he has committed to the club for the coming years,” concluded Granovskaia.
