Chelsea star N’Golo Kante is in danger of missing the start of the Premier League season after the Frenchman was forced to leave pre-season early. The 28-year-old had suffered a knee injury towards the end of last season, with the 2018 World Cup winner yet to start a single game under Frank Lampard.

English news outlet, the Metro has reported that Chelsea star N’Golo Kante has returned home early with the Frenchman still having issues with his knee. The 28-year-old has enjoyed a largely injury-free career so far. The same has been true for his Chelsea career, with Kante only missing a few games every now and then.

But the 28-year-old has played an incredible volume of games since arriving in the Premier League, missing just 10 out of 152 games which has finally taken its toll. A niggling knee injury, one that saw Kante nearly miss out on the Europa League final has affected the World Cup-winning Frenchman, with him yet to make an appearance under Frank Lampard.

Not just that, reports have further indicated that the Kante could potentially miss out on the start of the season, which includes a first game against Manchester United. Chelsea’s statement regarding the injury didn’t have a lot to say, with the Blues keeping things simple.

“N’Golo Kante has travelled back to the UK to continue his rehabilitation for an injury connected to the knee problem he sustained at the end of last season” read the statement.
