According to a TOI report, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) will continue with the second edition of the Super Cup football tournament in Bhubaneswar in spite of the protest by some I-League clubs. The AIFF had made it clear that the tournament will commence on March 29 as scheduled.

Even after their meeting with the AIFF president Praful Patel, there are other issues which are yet to be resolved by the federation with the I-League clubs. However, the AIFF had made it clear yesterday that the Super Cup will go ahead as per schedule and the registration for the same also closed last night.

The major concern for the tournament was the course of action for three clubs - Minerva Punjab FC, Aizawl FC and Gokulam Kerala FC - who decided not to play the qualifiers earlier this month. Meanwhile, the AIFF general secretary Kushal Das had informed that there were no possibilities of playing the qualifying matches again. According to the clubs, Minerva Punjab, Aizawl and Gokulam Kerala were present in Bhubaneswar on their match days and they had no "intention to boycott."

"As of now, we expect the tournament to go ahead unhindered with participation from a maximum, if not all clubs. The format for now remains the same but there are multiple options that are available. We've got positive responses from the clubs," a senior official told TOI.
