Indian footballer Brandon Fernandes has revealed that new chief national coach Igor Stimac has already shared what he wants from the players. Brandon has also mentioned that he didn’t lose hope when he was not selected for the national side and said that ups and downs are a part of a player’s life.

The Indian team’s long wait to get a chief coach finally came to an end earlier this month with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) finally deciding on Igor Stimac. The former Croatian player and coach has already taken the charge of the Indian team and the national camp is underway ahead of the King’s Cup which will be played in Thailand next month.

Indian attacking midfielder Brandon Fernandes has praised the new coach and said that the experience that Stimac brings into the team will be helpful for them.

“He comes with a rich experience. With his experience, I feel it was the right choice to appoint him. He has already shared that he wants us from us,” Brandon was quoted as saying by the AIFF media team.

Brandon, who played for FC Goa in the previous season and won the Super Cup title as well as finished runners-up in the I League, was out of the national reckoning for quite some time. Meanwhile, he has been included in the preliminary squad and is of the opinion that the real challenge for him will begin now.

“I always knew I was going to get a chance to represent India again. There are ups and downs in a player’s life. I did not lose any hope when I was not called up. In fact, that motivated me to keep working hard to earn a call-up. I am very happy, but the real challenge for me begins now,” the midfielder concluded.
