Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement to sign Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic in the January transfer window. Mandzukic was close to joining United on several occasions but eventually ended up staying in Turin but things could soon change and the Croatian could finally move to United.

Mario Mandzukic could be seen joining Manchester United in the next transfer window as he has failed to feature for Serie A champions Juventus this season. Mandzukic was further hit with bad news when he found out he wasn’t included in the 25 man UEFA Champions League squad. Mirror now reports that he has agreed to a verbal United contract. The 33-year-old striker is said to have turned down a £7 million-a-year deal with Qatari side Al-Rayyan in order to stay in Europe.

Mandzukic has set his eyes on a move to Old Trafford and is eager to join them on January 1, 2020. Tuttosport claims that a deal is already in place that would see the striker join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team on the new year’s eve. Manchester United have a never-ending list of problems and poor attacking form is just one of the many problems. Their attack has been spiritless with Marcus Rashford failing terribly to produce goals. Injury to Anthony Martial has stretched United’s attack and forced youngsters like Mason Greenwood and Daniel James to share the goalscoring load.

Mandzukic’s signing will be music to United fans’ ears as he could finally solve the goal scoring crisis at the club. Despite being 33, the striker has enough experience to help United. He could guide youngsters like Greenwood and help Rashford improve his proficiency in front of goal. Mario Mandzukic has enjoyed a successful career with spells at Bayern Munich where he won the UEFA Champions League and later joined Atletico Madrid before moving to Juventus in 2015. Mandukic has scored 44 goals in 162 games since his move to the Allianz stadium.

Solskjaer’s side have scored just nine goals in eight Premier League games, proving how bad their current state of attack is. Pressure continues to mount on Solskjaer to deliver results and Mandzukic’s signing could solve the problem of goals.
