Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory has stated that new signing Lallianzuala Chhangte would need improving his final ball in the penalty box, all the while stating that the player who plays his heart out. The Englishman also complained that his players have been getting little rest between matches.

While Chennaiyin FC were the side who was dominating most of the match against ATK on Wednesday, the only player to show any kind of real threat in the first half was Chhangte. The young winger, who left the now-defunct Delhi Dynamos to join Chennai this summer was running a riot up and down the right flank.

And while Gregory looked mightily impressed with him on the pitch, the manager also had the observations marked out during the post-match press conference. “He puts in 100 per cent effort. Sometimes his decision-making needs to be better. So, we just need to tidy up a little bit with him,” said Gregory, reported ISL.

“He has a huge heart. He’s usually the one player who has covered the most distance in the 90 minutes. He certainly wears his heart on his sleeve and gives it everything. He just needs to improve that final ball in the penalty box,” the manager further added.

Chennaiyin now have gone three matches without scoring in the new ISL season, all the while conceding four goals. And a loss on Wednesday, despite doing most things right, saw Gregory cut out a frustrated figure after the match.

“Our creativity was very good. The boys on the pitch were in such control of the match. But the goal didn’t come, and it was very frustrating in that respect. It’s been a tough seven days. I think ATK had 10 days (off). Sometimes those extra few days make a big difference. There were many plus points, but it doesn’t change the result and this result will hurt for a few days,” said Gregory.
