Reports | Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to sign for AS Roma
Serie A giants AS Roma are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Henrik Mkhitaryan. The Armenian international has been unimpressive ever since his move to the Emirates from Manchester United and reports suggest that Roma are very keen on signing him before the European deadline is over.
According to reports from Il Tempo, Arsenal and AS Roma have been discussing a last-minute deal for Henrik Mkhitaryan. However, now it does look like the deal is nearly done with Sky Sports reporter Fabrizio Romano having reported as such. Photos of Mkhitaryan landing in Italy to sign the contract have already been released by Roma, with the former Borussia Dortmund man set to undergo his medical.
The 30-year-old has fallen out of favour at Arsenal, after the arrival of Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos. Roma, on the other hand, are eager to add another attacker to his team after the departure of Stephan El Shaarawy. The Giallorossi believe that the former Borussia Dortmund attacker will be a good move on loan, and the contract will not come with either an obligation or an option to make things permanent.
The move has come as a shock because Roma have an abundance of options, but, manager Paulo Fonseca considers Mkhitaryan to be an alternative to both Justin Kluivert or Diego Perotti, with the Armenian's versatility a bonus feature.
