Reports | Tottenham open the door for Celtic to sign Victor Wanyama
Tottenham have open the door for Celtic to sign Victor Wanyama this summer, with the North London side set to consider loan moves as well. The 28-year-old has dropped down the pecking order after the arrivals of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, with the club now looking to let him leave.
Tottenham have given Celtic a chance to sign former midfielder Victor Wanyama on loan this summer reports the Scottish Sun. The 28-year-old has been pushed down the pecking order in North London and while he is yet to make an appearance for the club this season, Wanyama was all set to join Belgian side, Club Brugge.
But the Kenyan, who is keen on a move away from North London, may have to spend another season in London with Club Brugge unable to come to an agreement with Tottenham. Initial reports had indicated that the two sides had come to an agreement over a £13 million fee, but it does look like the Belgian side might be unable to pay that fee, which has potentially caused them to back out of the deal.
This has paved the path for Celtic to make a move, with the Scottish Sun reporting that Wanyama is keen on a return to Parkhead this summer. The Sun further reports that the Hoops won’t be able to cover even half of his salary, which means that they will need Spurs to take a loss in order to accommodate the move. That may put the move to the Scottish Premiership in trouble but Wanyama is not short on suitors.
Reports have indicated that Monaco, Valencia and Bologna are all eyeing a move for the Kenyan captain before the window closes.
