Reports | Manchester United working on a new contract for Jesse Lingard
Manchester United are preparing a new contract offer for Jesse Lingard, with the Englishman’s entering the final two years of his current deal. The 26-year-old is considered to be one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top players at the club and the Norwegian wants new deals for Lingard and Victor Lindelof.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to secure the long-term futures of all his key stars, with reports already indicating that Paul Pogba has been offered a new deal. However, barring the mercurial Frenchman, the Red Devils have already managed to get Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial Juan Mata, Scott McTominay, and even Phil Jones to sign new deals in 2019.
Reports have further indicated that a new and improved contract for David De Gea is on the way, with La Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting that Jesse Lingard and Victor Lindelof are next on the list. The two players are considered to be key parts of Solskjaer’s plans for Manchester United and the report adds that he wants them tied down until 2024 at the very least.
Lingard has only two years remaining on his current deal and has been a regular star for the Red Devils despite struggling to find his best form in 2019. The 26-year-old is yet to score or assist for club and country this year, while Lindelof, on the other hand, has made a strong start to the season. The Swedish international has formed a strong partnership with Harry Maguire already and also has two years left on his current deal with the club.
