Reports | Premier League’s top half join forces to stop Manchester City’s UEFA appeal

The Premier League’s top eight sides have launched a bid to stop Manchester City from appealing against their European ban to the Court of Arbitration of Sport. The Cityzens were banned for over spending and cooking their books in regards to FFP rules by the UEFA with them banned for two years.
While the Cityzens have already filed their appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) earlier in the year with them hoping to get their ban either reduced or completely removed. But while there is hope within Manchester City’s camp, the Daily Mail has reported that eight out of the top ten Premier League sides have filed an appeal to stop City from playing in the Champions League.
The report further added that all the top ten sides excluding Manchester City and Sheffield United have submitted a joint application to the CAS. The group includes Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and even Everton with them all writing to make sure that City’s punishment is not ‘stayed’ while their appeal is in front of the CAS in the near future.
It would allow Manchester City to play in the Champions League despite the European ban and reports indicate that all eight Premier League sides are against that happening. The Mail also reported that City has not submitted such a request as of yet but with their CAS appeal around the bend, reports indicate that the Cityzens are considering such a bid.
