UP Yoddha coach Jasveer Singh believes that slight miscalculations on the teams’ part resulted in the game against Telugu Titans ending in a tie. Jasveer also explained about the defenders of both teams who put up a dominating performance in the last 20 minutes of the match on Friday.

The first match of the last evening in Mumbai saw the first tied game in the seventh edition which saw both Telugu Titans and UP Yoddha locked at 20 points each. The game went till the last raid and was full of drama in which one technical point each for both the sides resulted in the game ending in a tie. UP coach Jasveer Singh seemed disappointed with the result and mentioned about the miscalculations while speaking to the reporters after the match.

“It was a very close game; they are a very good team as well plus Siddharth Desai was also in form and played well. We decided to tackle him on the third (Do-or-Die) raid and there were slight miscalculations and it led to a tie,” Jasveer said.

Both the teams had a mindset of playing the defensive style of kabaddi and that is the reason why the aggregate point was only 40 in the match. However, the second half was full of action with both the teams trying hard to overcome the challenges posed by the other side.

”The last 4-5 minutes were like a whirlwind. A lot of things happened, and we ended up conceding a technical point but what we had to do was catch the raider in the third raid. Unfortunately, we couldn’t catch him and made a mistake by conceding a technical point, which resulted in a tie.

“Both defences were dominating in the second half. Our raiders tried their best to get points at the start but ended up getting tackled. So, then we decided to play more defensively because we had to stop their main raider, Siddharth Desai. We played defensively and both sides continued to get points equally,” concluded Jasveer.
