BC Ramesh has asserted that Bengal Warriors players worked on all their mistakes committed in the second match and improved a lot for the game against Puneri Paltan. Ramesh has also mentioned that they decided to give K Prapanjan some rest and try out Mohammad Nabibakhsh and the ploy was successful.

After one big win and a close defeat in the first two matches in season 7, the Warriors had a great day at the office on Monday as they managed to thrash Puneri Paltan by a huge margin of 43-23 in Mumbai. Rinku Narwal stepped up in the defence with a High 5 while Maninder Singh and Mohammad Nabibakhsh starred in the raiding department with a total of 14 and eight points respectively.

After the win against the Paltan, Bengal coach BC Ramesh explained about the team’s strategy and said that the players improved their game after the close defeat against Jaipur Pink Panthers.

“Our defence played really well. The players worked on all the mistakes they had made in the previous match and improved their game for this match. I examined all our previous errors with the team and explained to them that we should not be making those errors again this time. That was the plan and we strategized accordingly. We rested K. Prapanjan a little today and went with Nabibakhsh. We wanted to test him out again and this time he was successful,” BC Ramesh was quoted as saying by the PKL website.

BC Ramesh, who was with defending champions Bengaluru Bulls in the last edition of the league, had also worked with Puneri Paltan before that, is of the opinion that it is difficult to say about the winning momentum as Bengal won the first and third game of the season while had to taste defeat in their second game. However, after getting success with different combinations of raiders and defenders, he has mentioned that the think tank now has an idea about what works best for which situation.

“The combination of our defenders and raiders has been working really well. We played with different raiders and tried everything from a long defence to a short defence. Now we have an idea of which players work best in what situation.

“After our first win everyone thought that momentum is on our side and we faced a loss in our next game. So, it is very difficult to say which game will go your way,” the Bengal coach concluded.
