WATCH | Young fan requests Roger Federer to a match in nine years time

With 19 Grand Slams under his belt, Roger Federer is undoubtedly the best men’s tennis player the world has ever seen and it is for this reason that the Swiss Maestro is considered the ‘Greatest of All Time’. However, a young fan of his was not referring to him in this context when he had the opportunity to ask his idol a question at the US Open press conference.

The youngster started off by saying, “I wanted to ask you, Switzerland is a really cool country, right?” To which Federer replied, “Not always, but most of the time”. But the youngster went onto ask, “So, there isn’t too much livestock, so why do they call you the GOAT”?.

Not only did the youngster’s question make Federer chuckle, it also drew laughter from the other journalists in the room. However, Federer did manage to regain his composure and reply saying, “I don’t know.. Some fans call me that, I don’t call myself that, but yeah, we have a lot of animals in Switzerland and goats are part of the livestock we have over there”.

But the child wasn’t done yet as he had another ‘serious’ question for Federer which was, "‘You have been the most consistent player of all time. Can you please continue to play for eight, nine years, so that I can play you when I go pro?”, which again made the journalists in the room laugh.

And Federer did not disappoint with his response as he said, “if you’re gonna make it on tour, I’ll make sure I come back for you.” But the kid wasn’t satisfied with the response as he made the 36-year-old promise, to which Federer replied, “Almost, almost a promise. Pinky promise”, while still smiling.
