Reports | Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah refused to join NCA for rehab

According to the latest revelations by a BCCI official, Team India’s mainstays Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, after their injuries, had refused to go to the NCA for their recovery process. Both Pandya and Bumrah had made their last respective international appearances in September this year.

After being deemed fit by the NCA, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was once again ruled out of playing ahead of the West Indies ODIs. While it does question the credibility of the academy, the fact that Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah had refused to join the rehabilitation camp organized by the NCA in Bengaluru adds to the problem.

"He was at the NCA for close to three months and without getting into details on the number of tests done on him in Bengaluru, all I will say is that he was checked for all possible issues. But strangely, the sportsman's hernia wasn't diagnosed. And no sooner was he tested in Mumbai that it was caught. Now make what you will of this,” the official shared.

According to a BCCI official, as reported by IANS, denying the norms of the regular protocol the two aforementioned players had already told the Indian team management that they won’t be travelling to Bengaluru and stay there for rehab. Since both of them are under contract, they should’ve gone to the NCA for proper recovery but because they weren’t comfortable with it, the management let them be.

"Both Pandya and Bumrah made it clear to the team management that they wouldn't wish to go to the academy for rehabilitation and that is why while Yogesh Parmar kept an eye on Pandya, Nitin Patel studied every process that Bumrah followed during the rehab. Yes, they are contracted players and they should have been at the NCA, but the stakes are high and for a sportsperson injuries are a serious matter. So, beyond a point you have to allow them to take a call that they are comfortable with," the functionary revealed.
