Sanjay Manjrekar brought to an end the Kieron Pollard controversy by saying he had not used the words "brainless" or "no brains". The BCCI also issued footage of the commentary as proof where the cricketer-turned-commentator was heard using 'range' which apparently was misinterpreted as "brainless".

No one expected that Manjrekar's questioning of Pollard's position in the Mumbai Indians batting lineup would subject him to a flurry of trolls and a backlash. The former India batsman said the West Indian was not suited to play in the top order, describing him as a "6-7 overs left in the innings batsman".

These comments did not go down well with Pollard who even managed to hear the word 'brainless' in Manjrekar's criticism while commentating on the game between MI and SRH.

Manjrekar broke his silence on Saturday in a series of tweets.

The original footage, uploaded by the BCCI on their website, showed no mention of the word brainless by Manjrekar which was pointed out by him in his next tweet.

I would also encourage all those reacting to the Pollard issue to hear the footage & not just take my word for it.

Meanwhile, commentator Harsha Bhogle slammed the media for not verifying the news before writing about it.

I think decency and journalistic ethics mandate that all those who roasted @sanjaymanjrekar over the "brainless" issue offer a full apology
