Sri Lankan batting legend Aarvinda de Silva indirectly slammed Arjuna Ranatunga suggesting that the latter held grudges against the Lankan cricket administration and the allegations were just a result of the same. Silva further called out the accusers for proof of corruption in Sri Lanka cricket.

Former Sri Lankan skipper Arjuna Ranatunga has constantly been accusing the Sri Lankan team and Sri Lankan administration of foul play in cricket. After demanding a probe into Sri Lanka's loss at the hands of India in the 2011 World Cup final, the 53-year old blamed the Sri Lankan cricket administration for the team's poor run in the recent past.

Ranatunga did not stop there and stated he had lost interest in watching his country play and recently urged ICC to probe the Sri Lanka cricket chief lashing out at the administration and accusing them of not upholding the ethics of the game after they lost the series to India in Colombo.

However, another former captain Aravinda de Silva came out backing the team suggesting the allegations were baseless and a result of grudges that the World Cup-winning captain is holding for people in the Sri Lankan cricket administration.

"You can't stop people talking when they have a grudge against certain people. One can say many things against them.

"But at the end of the day, you need to come out and prove what you are saying. It's fair that they should have all the proof needed," Aravinda told mid-day yesterday, without taking any names.

"Obviously, it hurts. I think players make mistakes on the field and every time they do, they are likely to be accused of various things," he further added.
