WATCH: Rohit Sharma asks Ravi Shastri to send MS Dhoni to bat in a unique way
MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma share a great bond and it was the former who was responsible for turning the latter’s career around by promoting him up in the order in the 50-over format. Yesterday, it was Rohit’s turn return the favour by promoting his former skipper, but he did it in his own unique way.
After being asked to bat first, India got off to a blistering start as both openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma capitalized on the shorter boundary at the Holkar Stadium to set up an exhibition of boundaries and sixes. Rohit was the more fluent one among the duo as he hit 11 boundaries and eight sixes to amass his 35-ball century, the fastest T20I century ever by an Indian and the joint-fastest in the world. While he seemed set to score at least 150 runs, Dusmanth Chameera outfoxed him with a slower and length delivery which chipped straight to Akila Dananjaya at
While returning to the pavilion amidst the loud cheers and applause from the passionate Indore crowd and the Indian dressing room, Ravi Shastri asked him about who should go out next and seeing that, Rohit immediately replied back by gesturing the wicketkeeper and MS Dhoni made his way into the ground with the small stadium reverberating with the chants of “Dhoni-Dhoni”.
While there was no special thing about the above mention, given it has always been the skipper’s job to decide the next batsman, Rohit’s funny way of promoting Dhoni made the people laugh their lungs out.
