Virat Kohli has lost his position at the top of the T20I rankings table for missing the T20Is with Sri Lanka due to personal commitments which led to a loss of 48 points resulting in a fall to third. However, India reached the second position in the T20I ranking after blanking the Lankans 3-0.

On a more positive note, the Indian national team led by the dynamic Rohit Sharma who is in the form of his career leapfrogged England, New Zealand, and West Indies to move from fifth to the second position in the rankings. India's 3-0 win over Sri Lanka ensured that they move up from their pre-series tally of 119 points to 121 points.

As players tend to lose two percent of their rating points for each T20I missed, Kohli now finds himself trailing Australian Aaron Finch (784) and West Indies opener Evan Lewis (780).

The Indian bowlers, especially the spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, who performed extremely well during the recently-conducted series, have seen a rise in their rankings as well, with Yadav jumping 48 places to 64th spot and leg-spinner Chahal, who claimed 8 Lankan wickets throughout the series, climbs 14 spots to 16th in the overall rankings.
