AB de Villiers will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the all-important Champions Trophy clash against India to decide whether he will feature in the game. The Proteas' captain suffered a hamstring injury in the last game where SA lost to Pakistan by 19 runs courtesy of the DLS method.

South Africa skipper AB de Villiers, who is nursing a hamstring injury, will undergo fitness Test ahead of their final Champions Trophy group B clash against India to be held at the Kennington Oval on Sunday.

De Villiers, who was dismissed for a golden duck for the first time in his ODI career against Pakistan, was seen clutching his hamstring during the second innings of the match. The 33-year-old subsequently left the leave the field for a while to receive some treatment but was back on before the game was stopped due to the weather.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) have confirmed that the South African captain would have to undergo a late fitness test which would determine his availability for the game against the Men in Blue.

Even though de Villiers has been well short of his usual best, scoring just four runs in two games, his absence would give India a much needed boost ahead of the virtual quarter final between the two sides. 

If de Villiers is ruled out of the game, Faf du Plessis step up as the captain of the side while Farhaan Behardien is the favorite to get the nod for his skipper's place in the side.
