IPL 2018 | Ish Sodhi replaces Afghanistan player Zahir Khan in Rajasthan Royals squad
New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi will join the Rajasthan Royals squad in place of injured Afghanistan player Zahir Khan for the remainder of the 2018 Indian Premier League. Sodhi was picked from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list and this will be his first outing in the IPL.
The Royals seem to be under some sort of misfortunate spell as they are losing players to injury in quick succession. Yesterday, Sri Lankan bowler Dushmantha Chameera pulled out of the league due to a back complaint while the highly-rated Jofra Archer is also a doubt for the Rajasthan-based franchise, who suffered a dismal loss in their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Now in another blow to their team tactics, Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi has been roped in by the Rajasthan Royals management to replace the injured Afghanistan player Zahir Khan for the remainder of the 2018 Indian Premier League. Sodhi was picked from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list and this will be his first appearance in the IPL.
Indian-origin NZ leg-spinner Sodhi has played 15 Tests, 22 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 26 T20Is for New Zealand so far. Sodhi was born in Ludhiana, Punjab before his family moved to New Zealand later on.
Sodhi will most likely sit out today’s match against Gautam Gambhir-led Delhi Daredevils but can make an appearance in RR’s next match in the IPL.
