IPL 2018 | Gautam Gambhir brings Sukhma martyrs’ families and children to watch IPL game
Gautam Gambhir, who sat on the bench in the last match, showed his humane side and got the children and families of the Sukhma martyrs’ to watch DD’s match against KKR at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Gambhir also had a meet up with the family in the hotel and spent some quality time with them.

After the massacre last year, Gambhir had committed to Lifetime support for the education of the children of these martyrs through the Gautam Gambhir Foundation.
Speaking to PTI, Gambhir expressed the huge impact that the massacre has on the children and pointed out that he just tried to give them few moments of happiness by bringing them to the game. He thanked DD CEO Hemant Dua for arranging the tickets and merchandise for them.
"It's been almost a year that these children lost their fathers in the attack. You can still see some moist eyes, some blank faces, and confused smiles.

"I'd like to thank DD CEO Hemant Dua who provided complimentary tickets and team merchandise for the families and children," said Gambhir.
After the practice session on Thursday, Gambhir spent some time with the seven children and their family members in Delhi. Gambhir revealed that the children didn’t support him in his decision to step down from the captaincy.
"Our interaction was full of fun, tears, laughter, and promises. Almost all of them wanted to know why I stepped down from DD captaincy. I tried explaining it to them but none of them looked convinced," Gambhir said rather happily.
Amongst the children were Lavisha Sandhu and Rohit Sandhu from Karnal in Haryana. They are children of martyr Ram Mehar and were accompanied by mother Poonam and their grandfather Prem Singh Kajal.
Ajay Boran, son of martyr Bana Ram, was also invited from Neem Ka Thana in Rajasthan. His sisters Amisha & Kashish Sharma, who live in Palampur in Himachal, were sad that they couldn't watch Gambhir play. Their father Sanjay Kumar was also one of the martyrs in the Sukma attack.
