All the excitement surrounding Lord’s Test was flushed down the gutter as incessant rain in London spoiled the entire first day’s game that was eventually called off. The last time an entire day's play was washed out in a Lord's Test was a match between England and Pakistan in May 2001 in the.

After a Test that would easily go down as one of the finest and most dramatic Test matches of the recent memory, Lord’s was expected to be a cracker of an encounter. There were numerous sub-plots, narratives attached to the game with everyone and their pet dog waiting for the London Test to begin. However, the excitement surrounding the game saw a sad beginning as the first day has been entirely washed out by rain.

Though there was not too much rain during the day, it kept on drizzling for the entire duration, which forced the umpire to take early lunch and tea. But, the rain ceased to stop till late afternoon that was the final nail on the coffin as the umpires for the match - Marais Erasmus, Aleem Dar, and Chris Gaffaney after an inception at 18:48 Local Time/ 21:18 IST called off the day.

However, in a good news for all the cricket fans around the globe, it is expected to be a sunny day at Lord’s tomorrow and hopefully, the match can see the light of the day tomorrow.
