Not seen a better player than Virat Kohli, reveals Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan reckons that Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, is the best batsman he’s ever seen across all three formats of the game after the latter became the second fastest player to score 25 Test tons. The 30-year old registered his sixth century on Australian soil to equal Tendulkar’s feat.

Having played against the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith and other legends, the former English skipper has stated despite going up against some of the biggest names in cricket in the turn of the century, Kohli has been the best player that he’s ever come across all.

“I have not seen a better player. I’m not disrespecting Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara or Ricky Ponting but across three formats of the game I have not seen anyone better. He has such high skill levels and an incredible mentality when it comes to dealing with the pressure of the chase. All that while dealing with a weight of expectation and adulation that only Sachin would have experienced,” Vaughan wrote about Kohli in his column for Foxsports.

On Sunday, the 30-year old Delhi batsman became the second fastest player to score 25 Test centuries. Kohli achieved the feat in 127 innings, after Sir Donald Bradman’s 68 innings. His 123 against Australia in the second Test was his sixth century on Australian soil which is on par with Sachin Tendulkar now.

The Englishman also heaped praise on the Indian bowling department who have so far been in superb form on the Australia tour.

“The concern for Australia is that so far in this Test match the Indians have managed to get more uneven bounce out of the pitch than the home bowlers. The quicks seem to be getting out-bowled by this highly skilled Indian four-man attack,” Vaughan added.
